SHREVEPORT, La. --- The ULM soccer team overcame a slow first half and erupted for three goals in the second to continue the best start in program history and move past Centenary College at Mayo Field in Shreveport, La., 3-0 on Tuesday night.

“Tonight we showed that we had the heart to win ugly games,” ULM head coach Stacy Lamb said. “We had nothing go our way in the first half, but were able to overcome it and move past it in the end. We came out with the work ethic and desire to fight past it and good things came along.”

After playing to a draw in the first half, the ULM offense came out of the intermission firing. The Warhawks blasted home a pair of quick goals off the Centenary defenders to take control and seal the win.

The offensive outburst was propelled by a yellow card against a ULM attacker. The Warhawks went on the offensive and four minutes after the foul, freshman Maddy Ocon bounced a shot off the grass and over the keeper’s hand for the game winner. The score for Ocon was the first of her career.

Three minutes later, freshman Stacey Carmack got in on the action and connected on her first career score. Carmack deflected a shot off the defender and into the back of the net to make it a 2-0 ULM lead. Sophomore Amy Porch would put the game out of reach, scoring her second goal in as many games.

ULM outshot Centenary (1-4) by an 8-2 margin in the second period, controlling the tempo of the game and propelling the team to the win.

Junior Mallory George went the distance between the pipes, pulling down six saves to register her second shutout of the season and the 10^th of her career.

The game against the Ladies also marked the first broken school record by senior Rachel Hobson. The Longmont, Colo., native started her 63^rd-consecutive match, moving her into the top spot past Tasha Moore.
